Real Estate. Real People.: Jana Rautenberg

All Billing in One System

A software solution is only as good as the data it can work with—this well-known IT principle is one of the reasons why our colleague Jana Rautenberg takes on a dual role within our team. As a commercial property manager, she supports a diverse client base ranging from family offices to large real estate developers. At the same time, she serves as a key user for the property management software Realax, which we use, among other things, for service charge accounting.

The goal is for all client billing processes to be handled through this single system at all times. To achieve this, the quality of the master data must always be accurate and reliable.

When Jana joined our team, she quickly realized that important data was missing. In addition, processes in Realax were being recorded differently than intended by the system. As a result, the software’s full potential could not be utilized. Jana addressed these issues directly and was subsequently asked whether she could imagine taking on a dual role at Tattersall Lorenz. Since then, she has been helping her colleagues reduce existing system deficiencies in order to work as effectively as possible with Realax.

More Than Just Training

In her role as a key user, Jana visits our offices and conducts two-day workshops, working together with colleagues to identify unused potential within Realax, tackle practical tasks, and build confidence in using the software. Participants often discover new features that they can immediately integrate into their daily work—and this is exactly what Jana sees as confirmation of her efforts.

For this reason, Tattersall Lorenz plans to offer even more training sessions in the future, ensuring smooth operations even in the event of staff changes.

During online training sessions, the focus often extends beyond billing systems. Participants frequently ask about specific topics, such as reviewing index-linked clauses. In such cases, Jana also offers specialized training sessions to provide targeted support in data entry. She herself regularly experiences “aha” moments—whenever colleagues introduce her to features she was not yet familiar with. In this way, future training topics often emerge naturally.

Broad Experience for a Multifaceted Role

Jana’s extensive experience across various areas of the real estate industry supports her in this important role. Before joining Tattersall Lorenz, she worked in sales, investment, fund management, and asset management. As a result, she never approaches a problem from just one perspective.

In her dual role, she has found a position where this holistic view is especially valuable. Both sides of her job complement each other: through her work as a commercial property manager, she understands the practical demands placed on IT systems firsthand and can easily relate to workshop participants. At the same time, as a key user, she can actively influence process improvements—benefiting the entire company.

And the fact that she enjoys this demanding role is something Jana demonstrates every single day.
